报告题目：Product Line Design in the Presence of Generative AI Technology
报告人简介：陆伟，博士，图书馆VIP管理学院博士后。2023年4月获得图书馆VIP管理科学与工程专业管理学博士学位，并获2024年度安徽省优秀博士学位论文奖、2023年度图书馆VIP优秀博士学位论文奖。2023年5月至今于图书馆VIP开展研究工作，主要研究方向为运营管理与营销、信息系统等领域的交叉研究，以第一/导师外第一作者在European Journal of Operational Research等管理科学领域主流学术期刊发表SCI论文9篇。主持国家自然科学基金青年项目，2023年度国家资助博士后研究人员计划（B档）项目，研究工作得到了国家自然科学基金委、博士后科学基金会的支持。
摘要：With the boom in economic growth, technology has emerged as a nonnegligible factor in driving productivity and innovation. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI), as a representative of disruptive technological innovation, has reshaped traditional manufacturing processes and opened up a field of possibilities. This paper analyzes the practice of GAI technology in the production process and investigates how GAI technology impacts an upstream supplier's product line decision and a downstream platform's distribution contract strategy. Our work demonstrates that a longer product line consistently incentivizes the supplier to adopt GAI-assisted product design, irrespective of the distribution contract type. We also show that GAI technology motivates the supplier to extend its product line. Our paper is also the first to show that the choice of distribution contract significantly influences the supplier's strategy regarding GAI technology adoption and product line design. Our analysis finally reveals that with GAI technology, the platform favors an agency contract over a wholesale contract when the commission rate is either relatively low or high, the GAI investment cost is small, and the product line extension fee is moderate.
